About the webinar

Freight vehicles are a key segment in the global contribution to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They are responsible for 2.6 gigatonnes (Gt) of CO2 emissions, i.e. 7% of energy-related emissions (IEA, 2017). 76% of the 165 NDCs presented involve transport as a source of mitigation (SloCat, 2018). Strengthening NDCs will require an effective approach to the sector.

Understanding how different savings measures can be worked on is fundamental to monitoring freight operations and analyzing where greater efficiency can be achieved. It is key to increase knowledge and understanding of the importance of the different tools in a holistic manner.

In this sense, three projects will be presented in the thematic area. First, the low-emission freight transport programme, EcoLogistics of the organisation Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) and its initiatives in Colombia and Argentina. Then, the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy of Mexico (CONUEE, for its acronym in Spanish) will explain the strategies they are implementing for sustainable logistics programs, pioneers in Latin America. Finally, the measures implemented for fuel saving by the logistics operator Zarcam, founding partner of the Intelligent Transport Program in Argentina, will be presented. About the panelists

Camila Chabar

She has an MBA in Economics and Business from UFSCAR and a degree in International Relations from PUC-SP, with an extension in Sustainability and Social Responsibility from FGV -SP. For three years, she assumed the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development of a city in the interior of São Paulo, with actions granted by the state government for the elaboration and implementation of public policies for local sustainable development. She is currently Climate Change Coordinator at ICLEI South America.

Francisco Javier García Osorio

He worked as a researcher, consultant and production planning engineer. He is a professor at UNAM and the Marist University. He has more than 25 years of experience in the area of energy saving and efficient use. In his positions as Director of Energy Saving in Transport, Director of Management of Energy Supply and Demand, and in the current as Director of Mobility and Transport of CONUEE.

Ernesto Tentori

He serves as Head of the Integrated Management System of the company Zarcam, which is a Logistics Operator in Argentina that provides, among other services, transportation of dangerous and general goods. He is a founding Partner of the Intelligent Transportation Program in Argentina. He trained as a Systems Analyst. It represents Zarcam in the Zárate-Campana Zonal Hygiene and Safety Committee, the Responsible Environmental Care Program (PCRMA), the Logistics and Sustainability Observatory (OLS) and Friends of Sustainable and Safe Mobility.

Sobre el webinar

Los vehículos de carga constituyen un segmento clave en la contribución mundial a las emisiones de efecto invernadero (GEI). Son responsables de 2,6 gigatoneladas (Gt) de emisiones de CO2 , es decir un 7% de las emisiones relacionadas a la energía (IEA, 2017). El 76% de los 165 NDC presentadas involucran al transporte como una fuente de mitigación (SloCat, 2018). El fortalecimiento de las NDCs requerirá un abordaje efectivo sobre el sector.

Comprender cómo se pueden trabajar distintas medidas de ahorro es fundamental para supervisar las operaciones de carga y analizar dónde se puede lograr mayor eficiencia. Resulta clave aumentar el conocimiento y comprensión de la importancia de las diferentes herramientas de manera integral.

En ese sentido se presentarán tres proyectos en la temática. Primero, el programa de transporte de carga bajo en emisiones, EcoLogistics de la organización Gobiernos Locales por la Sostenibilidad-ICLEI y sus iniciativas en Colombia y Argentina. Luego la Comisión Nacional para el Uso Eficiente de la Energía de México explicará las estrategias que vienen implementando para los programas de logística sostenible, pioneros en América Latina. Finalmente, se expondrán las medidas implementadas para el ahorro de combustible, del operador logístico Zarcam, socio fundador del Programa Transporte Inteligente en la Argentina. Sobre los panelistas

Camila Chabar

Tiene un posgrado (MBA) en Economía y Negocios de UFSCAR y un título en Relaciones Internacionales de PUC-SP, con una extensión en Sostenibilidad y Responsabilidad Social de FGV -SP. Durante tres años, asumió la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible de una ciudad en el interior de São Paulo, con acciones otorgadas por el gobierno estatal para la elaboración e implementación de políticas públicas para el desarrollo local sostenible. Actualmente es Coordinadora de Cambio Climático en ICLEI América del Sur.

Francisco Javier García Osorio

Se desempeñó como investigador, consultor e ingeniero de planeación de la producción, es catedrático en la UNAM y en la Universidad Marista. Cuenta con una experiencia de más de 25 años en el área de ahorro y uso eficiente de la energía. En sus cargos como Director de Ahorro de Energía en el Transporte, Director de Gestión de Oferta y Demanda Energética, y en el actual como Director de Movilidad y Transporte de la CONUEE.

Ernesto Tentori

Se desempeña como Jefe de Sistema de Gestión Integrado de la empresa Zarcam, que es un Operador Logístico en Argentina que brinda entre otros, servicio de transporte de mercancías peligrosas y generales. Es Socio fundador del Programa de Transporte Inteligentes en la Argentina. Se formó como Analista en Sistemas. Representa a Zarcam en el Comité Zonal de Higiene y Seguridad Zárate-Campana, el Programa de Cuidado Responsable del Medio Ambiente (PCRMA), el Observatorio de Logística y Sustentabilidad (OLS) y Amigos de la Movilidad Sustentable y Segura.
