July 30, 2019The webinar discussed different ways for cities to reduce GHG emissions, air pollution and other negative externalities within their urban areas while continuing to deliver urban freight effectively. It provided an overview of good practices of sustainable urban freight in cities across the globe, with a special emphasis on Asian cities.

Ian Wainwright, Director at Future City Logistics (Click to download presentation)
Ian Wainwright is Director at Future City Logistics, an independent consultancy that works to create safer, cleaner and more efficient freight and logistics. Having a degree in Town Planning, Ian worked for 18 years in the logistics industry, covering topics such as supply chain reorganisation, depot start-ups and closures, and trade union negotiation. He spent 11 years working for Transport for London (TfL) where he managed the programme encouraging opera- tors and businesses to revise their delivery activity during the 2012 Olympic Games. He then became head of the Freight and Fleet Team at TfL, managing the programme to maximise the safety of freight activity and build on the lessons from the Games.
Boyong Wang is the Strategic Partnerships Director of Smart Freight Centre. He previously worked as Senior Project Manager for Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) in China working on low carbon city development, and managed EU FP7 projects on carbon awareness within the transport sector. Graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna and Washington DC, Mr. Wang returned to China in 2003 and has since developed into an experienced project manager working for EU China cooperation projects and international development institutions. He managed EU China Village Governance Project, EU China Information Society Project and EU Asia Business Roaming Project from 2003 until 2013 before joining SFC. He has extensive experience in collaborating with government agencies and building up cooperation amongst cross sector stakeholders.
